Originally to be called "The Man", Leonard Freeman chose to call it Hawaii Five-0 after his mother-in-law, Amelia "Mimi" Emma suggested the show be filmed in Hawaii. Since Hawaii is the 50th State of our Country, I think this might be where Leonard came up with the name which is now world famous.

First aired on September 20, 1968 as a 2 hour movie called "Cocoon" it ended with "Woe to Wo Fat" as the last episode made in 1980. During the 12 years the show ran, a total of 278 episodes were made. Ironic isn't it, that the hero and the villain in the first show were also the hero and the villain in the last show. The hero of the show, Steve McGarrett and his archrival, Wo-Fat were the only 2 characters to last the entire time of the show's airing.
